Spring 2018 Intern - Community Relations / Pro Sports
Position OverviewAssist in the planning, facilitation, and execution of community relations events
The Greensboro Swarm is seeking excited, outgoing, and dedicated candidates to become an integral part of our ongoing launch for the new NBA Development League team. The Community Relations intern will be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the department and working closely with the Community Relations Director. The selected candidate will gain valuable experience in the planning and implementation of a community outreach program as well as a deep understanding of the relationship between our brand and the community. This is unpaid position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with social media and communications for community relations initiatives
Assist in the fulfillment of community donation requests
Oversee organization wide volunteer opportunities and programs
Assist and implement grass roots marketing plans
Maintain and continue to improve a positive image for the company
Working closely with the different departments within the organization and all other projects as assigned
Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities
To perform the job successfully, the candidate should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this job.
Must Receive College Credit
A Sophomore, Junior or Senior, majoring in Communications, Marketing, Sports Management or other related field preferred
Should have an interest in all aspects of communications
Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when privy to sensitive information
Possess a strong ability to manage one’s own time and prioritize tasks when given clearly defined goals and objectives
Must be multi-task oriented
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to present point of view in varied business situations
Presents self in professional manner and has the ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside contacts.
Dependability – consistently at work on time, follows instructions, responds to manager’s instructions.
Maintain flexibility regarding hours and availability
Ability to work in a diverse environment
Personable, enthusiastic and energetic
Ability to work extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays.
Ability to attend company events
