The New York Lizards, New York’s Major League Lacrosse team, are looking for 2017 Fall Public Relations Interns who will report directly to the Director of Public Relations.

This part-time position for college credit only is a valuable and unique opportunity to work within a professional sports organization through hands-on experience. The Fall Public Relations Internship is designed to help the New York Lizards gear up for the 2018 season as intern applications are accepted from students presently enrolled in a college program. To be clear, this is an unpaid internship that requires applicants to be receiving college credit.

A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members for the achievement of department goals. The applicant will also help to brainstorm potential marketing ideas in a creative outlet that will challenge them and present them with unique opportunities for personal and professional growth.

The 2017 Fall Public Relations Interns will be responsible for the following duties:

-Assist with research and writing/editing of press releases, stories, blogs, game notes, etc.
-Assist in creating handouts, fliers, media guide, email blasts, etc.
-Assist in maintenance of team website, as well as social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
-Assist with requests by media for interviews with our players and coaches.
-Assist with updating statistics and facts on Lizards players where needed
-Maintain clip book and monitor coverage of Lizards in local, regional and national news
-Responsible for working at events, lacrosse and non-lacrosse related, the New York Lizards are invited to attend throughout the tri-state area
-Assist with any other tasks assigned, including general office duties as requested.

Qualifications and Requirements:

-Must be at least a sophomore in an undergraduate program
-Available beginning August 2016 through December 2016
-Majors: Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or Marketing
-Excellent writing and computer skills, AP style knowledge and Microsoft Office skills
-Adobe InDesign and Photoshop knowledge preferred, familiarity with the rest of the Adobe -Creative Suite is a plus
-Knowledge of lacrosse strongly preferred
